Welcome to Field Notes
If you've found this page, welcome.
Field Notes is where I'll be documenting the ongoing development of FORSYTE. It's part development log, part product update, and part guide for anyone using or following the platform.
A little about me.
Before founding FORSYTE, I served in the British Army as an Electronic Warfare and Signals Intelligence operator. My job was to use specialist sensors to detect and understand activity that couldn't be seen with the naked eye, helping teams build a clearer picture of what was happening around them.
When I left the Army, I realised something.
The technology capable of doing this existed, but it was often expensive, highly specialised, and out of reach for many of the people who could benefit from it.
That's where the idea for FORSYTE came from.
The goal has always been simple: take capabilities that traditionally required specialist equipment and training, and make them affordable, portable and easy to use.
Today, FORSYTE has grown from an idea into a working platform.
It runs on everyday Android devices, works with commercially available hardware, and is already being used by people in multiple countries around the world. More importantly, it's being used by ordinary operators, not just specialists. The aim has always been to build software that anyone can pick up, learn quickly, and use with confidence.
But we're only just getting started.
New hardware support, AI-assisted signal recognition, acoustic sensing, improved mapping, and many other capabilities are already in development.
This page is where I'll share that journey.
You'll find development updates, lessons learned during testing, new features, hardware compatibility, practical guides, and an honest look at what we're building next.
Whether you're a customer, partner, researcher, or simply curious about what we're creating, I hope you'll find something useful here.
Thanks for following the journey.
