Live online & in-person training

FORSYTE Training

Learn how to set up, operate and report from FORSYTE Lite and Plus using supported SDR (software-defined radio) hardware, Drone ID, the radio-frequency (RF) Detection Map and ATAK workflows.

FORSYTE detects and helps you make sense of nearby radio-frequency activity — radio signals, drone links and Remote ID — using a phone or tablet and a low-cost radio sensor. It listens only; it never transmits.

Training is available online or in person for individuals, teams, instructors and organisations.

Why training matters

Get more from what FORSYTE shows you

FORSYTE is designed to be easy to start, but teams get more value when they understand what the system is showing them: what a detection means, what it does not prove, and how to report activity clearly. The training is built for operators, managers, instructors and organisations who want practical confidence — without needing to become radio specialists.

  • Set up supported hardware
  • Run a first scan
  • Understand what a detection means (and what it doesn't prove)
  • Use Drone ID / Remote ID information
  • View activity on the RF Detection Map
  • Share and report using ATAK workflows
  • Avoid common mistakes

Hardware required

What you need to take part

Most FORSYTE training can be completed with an Android device and a supported SDR (software-defined radio) such as an RTL-SDR or HackRF. If you don't already have hardware, FORSYTE can advise on compatible options or prepare a product + training bundle.

  • Android device (Android 9.0 or newer, with USB OTG)
  • A supported SDR (RTL-SDR or HackRF)
  • An antenna suited to what you want to watch
  • A USB / OTG adapter or cable that fits your device
  • A power bank (recommended)
  • ATAK (optional)

Customers may use their own compatible hardware. FORSYTE-supplied or partner-supplied hardware packages are quoted separately where available. FORSYTE is hardware-agnostic and does not manufacture all hardware itself.

Organisation training

Tailored team training

For organisations, FORSYTE can provide tailored training for security teams, training providers, drone operators, site operators, emergency response teams and defence-adjacent users.

Training can be adapted around:

  • Team size
  • Existing hardware
  • Intended operating environment
  • Reporting workflow
  • ATAK use
  • Pilot requirements
  • Instructor needs

Instructor beta

Help teach FORSYTE locally

FORSYTE is opening an early instructor beta for selected trainers, partners and organisations. The goal is to build a trusted network of people who can teach FORSYTE correctly, safely and consistently.

Instructor beta candidates may include:

  • Security trainers
  • Drone instructors
  • SDR / radio specialists
  • Military or emergency-service trainers
  • Tactical technology educators
  • Partner organisations

Lawful, defensive use

FORSYTE training is for lawful, defensive, educational and operational-awareness purposes only. Users are responsible for complying with local laws, radio regulations, privacy rules, aviation rules and organisational policies. Training does not authorise users to intercept private communications, interfere with signals, operate drones unlawfully or conduct any activity requiring a separate legal authorisation.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need radio experience?

No. Training starts from plain-English basics — you don't need to be a radio specialist.

Do I need to own FORSYTE already?

It helps, but you don't have to. Organisations can request a product + training bundle that includes the software, supported hardware guidance and training together.

What hardware do I need?

An Android device and a supported SDR (software-defined radio) such as an RTL-SDR or HackRF. Exact requirements depend on the course, and we can advise.

Is the certificate externally accredited?

Not currently. It is a FORSYTE product-training certificate issued by Cypher Tech Solutions Ltd. It does not replace any statutory, military, aviation, security, police or government qualification.

Can you train teams?

Yes. Online and in-person team training is available, and can be tailored to your team size, hardware and operating environment.

Can training be delivered outside the UK?

Yes, for approved organisations. Travel, accommodation and agreed expenses are quoted separately and paid in advance.

Is this a drone pilot qualification?

No. Drone pilot qualifications are separate and issued by aviation authorities and approved providers. FORSYTE training focuses on using FORSYTE and understanding detection, Drone ID and reporting workflows.

Can instructors teach FORSYTE?

The instructor beta is open for selected trainers and organisations. Express your interest and we'll be in touch.
